i have put together a video - growing up a jehovah's witness 1960 -2010. it aims to show the things a witnesses would be taught as they age over those decades.
it is 15 minutes long.
this is my first attempt at a video and it took a while to work out how to use final cut, so please feel free to make suggestions if anything should be changed.

A couple of suggestions:
The quote from the 8/1/1966 WT is actually the WT's quote of a newspaper article. That should be clarified, I think.
Also, maybe a mention of the hours spent being indoctrinated as a born-in. How would it compare to hours spent in elementary school? Make sure to tally field service and assemblies and conventions. Outsiders cannot fully appreciate how immersive this cult is. It might help.
As a tongue-in-cheek, use AC/Dc's Jailbreak song with the ending credits. You can start with Bon Scott saying "He made it out - with a bullet in his back." This segues to the chorus.

i keep reading on here that jw's don't make friends outside the cult, and this is what i used as an excuse for stepping further away from being baptized.
she tells me it's not true, and they can have what ever friends they want.
Ask your study conductor. When Adam was asked by the Serpent "Is it true that you can't eat from every tree in the garden?", was he being technically truthful? He was.
But the phrasing neglected to mention that it was only one tree that was off limits. He made it sound more restrictive than it was. So when you tell me, I can associate with my non-jw friends - are you being technically truthful - but not revealing the whole truth on the matter?
45+, been (still) in this cult my whole life. She is lying. I have 2 sets of friends. JW and non-jw. I always look over my shoulder every time I go to a movie or a restaurant. I hate it.....

Also, everyone here has been part or is part of a congregation. The abuse, mistreatment, control and intrusiveness of a typical JW congregation makes this place look like Shangri-La. If you can survive your typical KHall, this place is a piece of cake.
the above mentioned article caught my eye for a couple of reasons .
.. it is obvious to most observers that the children of active jw's provide a potential "large army" and in spite of the attrition rate of jw youths (around 2/3's i believe), it's a resource the borg are keen to maximise.
there tactics appear to be encouraging baptism at an ever younger age.

Hi Kristi Kay. Yes, keep posting! You're perspective is unique and important. Most here have been born or suckered in. You are the rare person that studied with no intention of following through - like you were a tourist. I remember when I confessed my thoughts to some worldly people I trusted. It was such an eye opener to see how easily they dismissed Armageddon talk or the power of the elders and things similar. Raised to believe how "important" and "holy" and "universal sovereignty-deciding" it all was - and being surrounded by the environment of constant meetings and service - it is a bit jolting (and important) to see how it is so easily dismissed by outsiders. The whole edifice starts to shrink before your eyes...
